Let's talk about storage

How you store your hats is one of the most influential factors into how long your hat’s life will last (and we, like you, want those hats to last as long as possible!).

Here are our tips and tricks when it comes to ensuring the longevity of your favourite belongings.

  1. Keep them out of direct sunlight - When storing them, make sure they are not in constant direct sunlight. This is due to the fact that extended periods of sun exposure can cause various fabrics to fade. If you have no choice other than having them in a heavily lit room you should try and cover them with some fabric or other dense material to reduce the damage as much as possible
  2. The studier the box the better - a heavy duty, reliable box is essential when storing your hats. This is due to the fact that we don’t want anything to jeopardise the integrity of the hat (such as something falling on and crushing the hat), and in the same way we don’t want anything to get into the box (such as those pesky moths.
Tip: if you are going to be storing your hat for a long time, make sure to place something like mothballs inside the box as well as some insulation, such as tissue paper, to help protect the hat from all types of critters.
  3. ALWAYS store your hat on it’s crown - If you do not do this you risk losing the structure of the brim.
  4. Hang your hats – this is probably our biggest point … why hide your hats when you could display them proudly???
Whether it’s in the kitchen, at the front door or even in the bedroom you can use hoods or pegs to hold up and attach your hats to your wall. This simple yet impactful design decision fulfils two purposes:
    1. Your hat is out of the way and in a safe space
    2. Your hat is now an integral piece in your houses interior design.
